ALBANY -- In the Capital Region, Italian restaurants rarely fail. Thus, it only makes sense that is what will succeed the former Miss Albany Diner.
The iconic building that was purchased from the Brown family will re-open next month as Sciortino’s, a casual Italian restaurant named after co-owner Matt Baumgartner's grandfather.
Baumgartner is in partnership with Jimmy and Demetra Vann, also his partners in Wolff’s Biergarten and the Olde English Pub & Pantry.
Sciortino's (pronounced See-or-tino’s) will be run by Jeff Ruff, who runs the kitchen at Wolff’s, and Deb Cote, who owned the now-closed Jack’s Pizza.
The new restaurant is located at 893 Broadway, adjacent to Wolff's Biergarten.
