I do not know who wrote this, but it aptly describes the present situation with regard to Covid-19 pandemic. I salute the
writer while sharing it with you:
"We fought for temples; We fought for masjids; We fought for statues. But we didn't fight for hospitals.
Everything is closed but hospitals.
We fought for pandits; We fought for maulvis; We fought for godmen. But we never fought for doctors. None are rescuing us but doctors.
We fought for cultures; We fought for traditions; We fought for castes; We fought for Quran, Bible and Ramayan. But never fought for science.
And science seems to be the only saviour.
I hope we learn our lessons; And fight for what is important."
I wish to add that we should also salute all those who have been directly or indirectly contributing to fight the pandemic. First of all, we should protect ourselves, and try to provide relief and confidence to those who are affected by creating an environment to lighten their anxiety. Suffering along with them is not the proper empathy. It is heartening that setting aside all differences, the Covid-19 seems to be bringing all countries together to help each other to tide over the pandemic. This solidarity should continue for global health, progress and peace.
