Critical Thinking and Media Literacy

Critical thinking and the ability to understand media are key skills today, where there is a lot of information available, but it is not always reliable. In my view, the two are very connected: critical thinking helps us question, examine, and value information, while understanding media provides us with the skills needed to move through different types of content and sources. In a context where social networks, the media and artificial intelligence can alter or change reality, learning these skills becomes almost fundamental to survive intellectually. It's not just about identifying fake news, it's about understanding the interests behind the information, acknowledging biases, and forming an opinion based on facts. In addition, I think that knowing about media not only means learning how to consume content, but also how to create it responsibly. Each person who disseminates information online has a certain control over the collective story, and critical thinking helps to manage that.
